How to Animate a Road Trip Route With Multiple Stops

A road trip is never just a start and a finish. It's the diner in the middle, the detour, the overnight stop. Turning that list of stops into an animated drive takes a few minutes in Mappi.
Add and order your stops
- Open the bottom dock and choose Route. This is Route Builder, home of every multi-stop journey. Set the travel mode to Drive so the path snaps to roads.
- Search for each stop in the order you visited. Dropped one in the wrong slot? Drag it into place and the road redraws instantly.
- Give each leg its own duration. Long highway stretches can fly by at speed while a short scenic climb lingers.
Let the route breathe at each stop
Add a pause hold where you actually stopped. A one-second beat lets the town label land, the pin settle, and the viewer register where they are before the line rolls on. It's a small thing that changes the pacing completely. Trips with eight or ten stops go from feeling like a blur to feeling like an itinerary.
Steal from the classics
The same workflow powers our walkthrough of mapping Route 66 and New Zealand's best road trips as map videos. Both make great templates for your own trip.
